Declaración de Antonio Guterres, Secretario General de las Naciones Unidas sobre Bolivia

El Secretario General sigue profundamente preocupado por los acontecimientos en Bolivia y reitera su llamado a todos los bolivianos para que se abstengan de la violencia y ejerzan la máxima moderación. El Secretario General ha pedido al señor Jean Arnault, en calidad de su enviado personal, que establezca contactos con todos los actores bolivianos y ofrezca el apoyo de Naciones Unidas a los esfuerzos para encontrar una solución pacífica de la crisis y garantizar elecciones transparentes, inclusivas y creíbles. El Sr. Arnault viajará a Bolivia hoy. 

El Sr. Arnault es el ex Representante Especial del Secretario General para Colombia y también se ha desempeñado como Representante Especial del Secretario General para Georgia, Afganistán, Burundi y Guatemala.

Statement attributable to the Spokesman for the Secretary-General – on Bolivia

The Secretary-General remains deeply concerned about developments in Bolivia. He reiterates his appeal to all Bolivians to refrain from violence and exercise utmost restraint. The Secretary-General has asked Mr. Jean Arnault to engage, as his Personal Envoy, with all Bolivian actors and offer United Nations support in efforts to find a peaceful resolution to the crisis, including through transparent, inclusive and credible elections. Mr. Arnault is traveling to Bolivia today.

Mr. Arnault is the former Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Colombia. He has also served as Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Georgia, Afghanistan, Burundi and Guatemala.
